Thabiti Lewis lectures African American literature and cultural issues such as sport, race, film, social history, hip hop culture and gender (Black masculinity and feminism).
In literary studies he lectures on American modernism, the Black Arts Movement, post civil rights literature, and Black Feminist writer Toni Cade Bambara.
Dr. Lewis has also consulted corporations and institutions of higher education in the areas of diversity, equity, affirmative action, and the performance of Black males in public education and popular culture.
Dr. Lewis is also available to work as a consultant to professional sports organizations on issues of culture and social issues to improve performance of athletes and their employers.
His book projects include, Ballers of the New School: Race Sport, and American Culture (Third World Press); Conversations with Toni Cade Bambara (editor, University Press of Mississippi), and a study of the fiction of Toni Cade Bambara (in progress and tenatively titled For the People).
